As Christmas approaches we look back on a very busy and successful year and are thankful for all the support we have had from clients, contractors, suppliers, service providers and friends & associates in the industry.

When we (Graham & Barbara) established Rundle Engineering Design Consultants at our new offices in Cherrywood in 1999, the practice grew rapidly from four people up to a total of nine to handle the increased workload. We have now had time to settle in and consolidate the practice at this level. This has now given us the resources and ability to provide a far more solidly based service to our many clients.

PROJECTS

With many hundreds of projects being worked on over the year we can not mention them all but they have ranged from garden retaining walls up to the flagship project at the sixteen storey Devonport Tower Apartments. The piled foundations and basement work has been completed on the Devonport Tower and the steel framework is now proceeding to be followed by the precast concrete floors in the New Year.

Another significant project is the addition of large conference facilities and extra guest rooms to the Rydges Rotorua Hotel.

The new Packhouse No. 2 for Eleos Ltd at Te Puke has broken the record for the widest clear span portal framed building. At 80 metres wide it is even bigger than the 75 metre span we designed for the Port of Tauranga last year.

We have completed the engineering design forĀ a number of apartment blocks at the Mount and also in Tauranga, as well as a range of retail, commercial and industrial projects in the Bay.

Our specialty in cool & coldstorage rooms has been practiced on controlled atmosphere rooms for EastPack and Seeka, a coldstore for KiwiGreen Mussels, six Blast freezers for Real Cool Ltd at Mt Maunganui and a storage depot for Creans in Hamilton.

Our specialist design expertise in light steel framing for buildings ranging from residential housing up to large portal framed sheds has resulted in a steady stream of projects throughout the country. We have produced a unique Design & Construction Manual for light steel framed construction to be used in conjunction with NZS 3604, and this is being widely utilised.

Similarly our expertise with autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks and panels has resulted in work on a number of housing projects utilising this product which has insulating properties as well as being solid masonry. We have provided input into a Design & Construction Manual for Celcrete International.

In 2003 we will be striving to provide an even better service and look forward to dealing with you.
